The International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA) met in person and joined in a panel discussion during Q-Expo in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, hosted by the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC), marking a significant milestone for our quantum community and partners.

The meeting and panel took place during the inaugural Q-Expo, a global quantum gathering of quantum businesses, end-users, researchers, investors, policymakers, and thought leaders from around the world to dialogue and take the measure of the latest development in the commercialisation of quantum technologies.

International Council of Quantum Industry Associations’ In-Person Meeting

The leaders of ICQIA partners, composed on the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC), Quantum Industry Canada (QIC), the Quantum STrategic industry Alliance for Revolution (Q-STAR), and the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C®), convened in person during Q-Expo to discuss several topics of common interest. The work meeting allowed the global industry leaders to advance collaborative projects, notably the development of global value chain landscapes in quantum computing and quantum-secure communication. The discussions reinforced the Council’s commitment to innovation and growth in the quantum industry.

Engaging Panel Session During Plenary Day

The ICQIA also participated in a highly engaging panel session, moderated by Laure La Bars, President of QuIC, during the Q-Expo Plenary Day. The session touched on several key areas of current affairs including the definition of international standards for quantum technologies, the international ecosystem of companies and global trade.

The panel facilitated a robust exchange of ideas and strategies, emphasising the significance of international collaboration in driving innovation and growth within the quantum industry. The discussions underscored the Council’s commitment to fostering a strong and inclusive global quantum ecosystem.

ICQIA partners are strongly committed to continuing joint work to shape and accelerate the development of the global quantum market.

About the ICQIA

The International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA) represents a diverse and dynamic global community of stakeholders, and it includes the following esteemed partner associations: Quantum Industry Canada (QIC), Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C), European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC), and Quantum STrategic Industry Alliance for Revolution (Q-STAR).

QuIC
The European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) is a not-for-profit industry pan-European association, founded in 2021, dedicated to the growth of the commercial quantum technology sector. QuIC operates as a collaborative hub throughout Europe, bringing together hundreds of SMEs, large corporations, investors, research and technology organisations, and academic institutes, to build a strong, vibrant quantum ecosystem. Together, members of the association address topics of common interest, such as standardisation, intellectual property, trade, and workforce development. More information: www.euroquic.org

QED-C
The Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C) is a consortium of stakeholders that aims to enable and grow the quantum industry. QED-C was established with support from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as part of the Federal strategy for advancing quantum information science and as called for by the National Quantum Initiative Act enacted in 2018. Today, QED-C is managed by SRI and has support from multiple agencies and a diverse set of industry, academic, and other stakeholders from around the world. QED-C participants are working together to identify gaps in technology, standards, and workforce and to address those gaps through collaboration. More information: https://quantumconsortium.org/

QIC
Quantum Industry Canada (QIC) is the national consortium uniting quantum technology companies and allied organizations across the country. Dedicated to transforming Canada’s quantum strengths into global business success and economic prosperity, QIC brings together key stakeholders to build a thriving, globally connected innovation ecosystem. This ecosystem aims to accelerate the commercialization and adoption of Canadian quantum, quantum-safe, and enabling technologies. Through our collaborative approach, the QIC community works collectively to shape the future of this critical and transformative sector. More information: www.quantumindustrycanada.ca

Q-STAR
Quantum STrategic industry Alliance for Revolution(Q-STAR) was founded in Japan in September 2021, Q-STAR aims to foster new industries and business opportunities rooted in quantum technology. Its diverse membership includes startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, and academic institutions. Q-STAR is committed to actively collaborating with organizations across different sectors globally, breaking through industry and corporate boundaries to collectively advance the future of the quantum industry.
